Life Application Study Bible

Life Application Bible

This study bible appeals to many people from a wide variety
of backgrounds, denominations, and ages.  It has many
useful and attractive features, but above all it shines in it's
ability to relate the application of biblical truths to
adolescents, young adults, and adults.

What's unique about this study bible?

This bible has notes... lots of them, but it's the purpose and
tone of the notes that makes this bible so useful and so
unique.  The notes will occasionally address theological
issues, and  somewhat more often will address
archaeological, historical, and scientific issues.  But in the
vast majority of cases they are written to answer one crucial
question, “What does this have to do with me?”  Its name,
“Life Application”, best describes this study bible.  It helps you
apply the bible to your life; and to answer the question, “How
does God want me to live?”

How do the study notes work?

The notes are easy to use, you just read them, think about
them, and then work on applying them.  But there's more.
There are short character studies that point out the strengths
and weaknesses of various people in the bible so you can
learn more from their lives.  There are maps which appear on
the pages where they apply to the topic a hand.  There is a
subject index in the back, cross references in the margin,
color maps, concordance, etc.  The gospels are harmonized
on a chart (as has been done in numerous other bibles over
the years).  But the idea is then expanded through the use of
sequence numbers located in the topic headings so you can
easily locate where you are in the harmonization table.

How does this bible help me?

More than almost any other study bible, this one will show you
how to apply the scriptures to your life and will pose questions
that will encourage you to examine your life and actions, and
to make appropriate changes in your life.

Physical Construction

Binding
- The bindings are glued rather than smyth sewn.
Depending on your opinion, this can be considered a
weakness of this bible.

(Glued bindings have pages are glued to the binding rather
than being held in place by the strong threads that are used
in smyth sewn bindings.  Most people prefer smyth sewn
bindings over glue bindings.)

Paper – The paper quality used in this bible seems to vary
somewhat.  The large print NIV edition we examined has very
good paper quality with almost no bleed-through.  Some other
editions have paper that is not as opaque and have some
bleed-through.

(Bleed-through occurs when the paper is not as thick or
opaque as it needs to be and you can see the text printed on
the reverse side of the paper.  Some people are not bothered
by bleed-through... others find it annoying... and some simply
cannot read text with significant bleed-through.)
